I am an Associate Epidemiologist at the CDNM, BWH, and Instructor in Medicine at HMS. My principal effort is at the intersection of data science and epidemiology, with a focus on integrating omics with epidemiological data to further our understanding of metabolic dysregulation in aging-related and chronic diseases.
I received my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the Graz University of Technology (Austria) where I focused on the integrative analysis of multiple omic data types. I am an Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation scholar and my background includes a B.S. in Information and Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence. During my postdoctoral training in molecular epidemiology I specialized in metabolomics analyses, including the identification of novel and potentially modifiable risk factors for breast and ovarian cancer. Recently, I was awarded an investigator-initiated Department of Defense grant to assess the role of a metabolite-related distress score in ovarian carcinogenesis. As a junior faculty member I started working on vision and hearing related disorders and in 2022, the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders funded my early career researcher R21 proposal to conduct a multi-omics investigation to identify metabolomic, genomic and environmental risk factors for tinnitus. I received the Chair’s Research Award from BWH’s Department of Medicine in 2022 and the Early Career Rising Star Award from the Metabolomics Association of North America in 2023.
