Julian E. Hecker, PhD

Research Areas: statistical genetics; family-based association studies; asthma; complex disease genetics; computational approaches; causal inference

I studied mathematics/economics and obtained a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Bonn in 2018. After my PhD, I worked in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (via Harvard Global UK). In 2019, I started to work in the Channing Division of Network Medicine and became an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. My current research focuses on statistical genetics, especially family-based association studies, and the analysis of asthma-related genomic studies incorporating multi-omics data. I am particularly interested in developing new statistical tools that utilize recent advances in causal inference theory and modern computational approaches.
