Kathryn L. Penney, ScD

Research Areas: prostate cancer; genetics; transcriptomics; tumor microenvironment; cancer survivorship; urinary incontinence

Dr. Penney is a genetic and molecular and cancer epidemiologist. Her research primarily focuses on identifying risk factors, predictors, and biological mechanisms of aggressive and lethal prostate cancer, with recent interests in the tumor microenvironment and cancer survivorship. She also has a developing research area of the genetics of urinary incontinence in women. Dr. Penney is the faculty coordinator of Harvard/MGB cohorts’ genome-wide association study data, and a member of the Data Access Committee for the international prostate cancer genetics consortium PRACTICAL. In addition to her research, Dr. Penney is actively involved in teaching and mentoring activities at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
